Professional Profile

I have dedicated my career to aiding communities through access to information and learning opportunities. As a deeply conscientious individual, my professional focus is on supporting the voices and needs of marginalized people and individuals.

Currently, I am the Evening and Weekend Circulation Supervisor at the Sojourner Truth Library in New Paltz, NY, where I also mange @SUNYNPLIBRARY on social media.  Here, I have had the pleasure of working in a vibrant academic environment, collaborating with people from many walks of life. Additionally, I serve as a general member and the webmaster on the One Book/One New Paltz committee, which I previously chaired for two years. My time on this committee is largely dedicated to further diversifying the pool from which the committee selects its annual community reads.

Freelancing as a writer since 2011, I have contributed pieces to VISITvortex, WeddingVortex, The Watershed PostThe Journal NewsThe Little RebellionThe New Paltz Oracle, and The Outlook Student Press. Previously, I held a position as the editor of VISITvortex and WeddingVortex. My news and feature writing often focuses on local events and concerns.

As an advocate for lifelong learning, there will never be an ending to my own education. After attaining my bachelor’s degrees in journalism and adolescence education from the State University of New York at New Paltz in 2013, I chose to pursue my graduate education at the University at Albany. I am currently working toward a master’s degree in information science and school library media. Recently, I was awarded a 2017 Dewey Scholarship through the New York State Library Association.
